An Iowa City woman with three previous OWI convictions and a pending fourth was charged again with the offense Sunday afternoon after allegedly striking several vehicles and traffic signs with her car.

42-year-old Natalie Roberts, a current resident of Shelter House, was called in as a reckless driver who was striking multiple stop signs. Officers located the vehicle near the intersection of Scott Boulevard and East Court Street. They allegedly saw Roberts strike multiple vehicles, and removed her from her Toyota.

The arrest report indicates that Roberts could barely stand and showed signs of intoxication. One of the officers on the scene had arrested Roberts for OWI last month, and knew her driving status was barred.

A probable cause search of Roberts’ vehicle reportedly turned up five empty liquor shooters, a half empty bottle of Hawkeye vodka, and an empty container of Mike’s Hard Lemonade. She refused field sobriety testing, but eventually agreed to a seated battery of sobriety tests. Roberts’ blood-alcohol level was measured at .203 percent.

Roberts was convicted of OWI in 2011, 2015 and 2018. She entered a not guilty plea to September’s charge, and a case management conference is scheduled for January 7th.

Roberts now faces another OWI charge, as well as Driving While Barred as a Habitual Offender, and Driving While Revoked. If convicted, Roberts faces up to 8 years in prison.
