An Iowa City man has been taken into custody after allegedly driving not one, but two vehicles while drunk Thursday evening.

Police were called to the parking lot at the Iowa City Walmart just before 6 pm on reports of a possible fight and a driver who struck multiple parked vehicles. Upon arrival, they spoke with the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Zeferino Millan of the Hilltop Mobile Home Park.

Millan allegedly had an odor of ingested alcohol. Witnesses reported that he was driving a Hyundai Elantra with two minor children inside before he got out of his vehicle and pulled a woman from the driver’s seat of a Toyota Camry. He allegedly got behind the wheel of the Camry and hit a parked car. He then got back into his vehicle and started driving, striking another parked vehicle.

Video footage reportedly corroborates the witness accounts.

Millan allegedly admitted to drinking three beers about a half-hour before getting behind the wheel.  Open containers of Bud Light beer were reportedly found in his vehicle.

Millan showed measurable impairment during field testing, and gave a PBT reading of .132. A subsequent Datamaster test showed his blood-alcohol level at .094 percent.

Millan was charged with OWI first offense and Child Endangerment.  If convicted on both counts, he could be sentenced to up to three years in jail.
