Iowans just can’t get enough at the betting sites.

The Gazette reports that once again, the state broke the monthly record for sports betting since it was legalized in August 2019. The $280.9 million wagered broke the previous record, set in September, by $70 million.

The fact that there were five weekends of sports activities in the month had something to do with the surge. But state Racing and Gaming Commission administrator Brian Ohorilko says with college basketball, NBA and NHL adding to the mix this month, there could be continued growth.

One analyst said that Iowa’s sportsbooks collected more in bets over the last three months than all of last year.
