IOWA CITY – The League of Women Voters of Johnson County will host a virtual program Restorative Justice: A Pilot project to Address Equity in the Iowa City Community School District. The program will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Brad Kelly, Restorative Justice Coordinator for the Iowa City Community School District (ICCSD), will explain the district’s pilot program in six schools and detail the practices staff and students will develop for the pilot project. League coordinators remind the public that restorative justice is not new. American Indigenous people used restorative justice to build community and keep everyone included. The term is used in the criminal justice system. Restorative Justice is used to create equitable environments to create inclusion, respect and build strategies for a safe, strong community.

Audience members who join the Zoom meeting can pose questions via Zoom Chat. Those interested in the League’s virtual program can join the Zoom meeting with the following link. https://uiowa.zoom.us/j/96405206134?pwd=cXFjNkFCZjk2V2VwK2ZSTFl6T3R0QT09
