Two Iowa City roommates face drunk driving charges after one allegedly arrived at the Johnson County Jail to pick up the other while intoxicated.

23-year-old Abigail Elsner of East Burlington Street was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated just before 2am Wednesday near the corner of Gilbert and College Streets. Iowa City Police say Elsner had trouble maintaining lanes in her 2010 Dodge Caliber. Her breath alcohol level was measured at .113% and .111%.

Just after 2:30am, Elsner’s roommate, 23-year-old Autymn Olson, arrived at the jail in a 2006 Chevy Cobalt. Iowa City Police say Olson was there to pick up Elsner, but she, too, showed signs of intoxication. Olson allegedly admitted to drinking and provided breath alcohol levels of .095% and .098%.

Both Elsner and Olson are charged with 1st Offense OWI.
