Two arrests have been made in connection with Sunday morning’s shooting at the Old Capitol Town Center parking ramp.
21-year-old Darnell Martin of Holiday Road in Coralville and 18-year-old Mason Ward of Otis Road SE in Cedar Rapids are each charged with Reckless Use of a Firearm Causing Property Damage. The two were booked into the Johnson County Jail just before noon Sunday. Iowa City Police say just before 1:30 Sunday morning, both men fired multiple shots at two others, hitting a number of vehicles. One person was hospitalized with what was believed to be a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the abdomen.
The Capitol Street ramp was closed for several hours Sunday morning during the investigation.
If convicted, Martin and Ward each face a maximum of two years in prison.
Police have not said if more suspects are being sought, or if more charges are pending against Martin and Ward.
