A Cedar Rapids man died Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 in Cedar County.

The Iowa State Patrol reports a semi being driven by 65-year-old Mykhaylo Palamarchuk of Chicago was westbound between the Wilton and Durant exits just after 9:15am when it left the roadway, broke through the cable barrier and crossed the median. The semi then struck an eastbound 2020 Ford F150 being driven by 71-year-old Steven Dolezal of Cedar Rapids head-on.

Dolezal was killed. Palamarchuk and a passenger in Dolezal’s vehicle, 71-year-old Joan Dolezal, were transported to Genesis East medical center in Davenport. All three were wearing their seat belts.

The accident remains under investigation.
