One killed in Cedar Rapids shooting, suspect arrested for murder


A Cedar Rapids man faces murder charges after a shooting Friday night.

According to Cedar Rapids Police, a 9-1-1 caller reported hearing gunshots at 3906 Northwood Drive NE at about 9pm. Officers arrived on scene and located 39-year-old Ty Casey of Cedar Rapids suffering from a gunshot wound. Casey was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two individuals who were present at the time of the shooting were interviewed at police headquarters. 42-year-old James Siegel was arrested for 1st Degree Murder. If convicted, he faces life in prison.

The investigation is ongoing.
