Road closures and bus detours announced for Iowa Arts Festival

The City of Iowa City will be closing multiple streets today through Sunday for the Iowa Arts Festival.

The annual art and music festival organized by the Summer of the Arts brings dozens of artists selling their work, musical performances, and activities for the whole family. This year’s event will take place in Downtown Iowa City Friday to Sunday.

Starting at 2 pm today, the following roads will be closed for setup:

Clinton Street from Jefferson to Washington

Iowa Avenue from Clinton to Dubuque

On Friday, additional roads will be closed starting at 6 am. They include:

Dubuque Street from Washington to Jefferson

Linn Street from Washington to Iowa

Washington Street from Clinton to Linn

Iowa Avenue from Dubuque to Linn

All closed roads are expected to reopen late Sunday.

Parking meters on all impacted streets will be marked with “No Parking” signs before the event. Cars in violation of these regulations will be towed.

Some ramp and lot parking will be reserved for festival vendors, artists, performers, and service vehicles, so look for posted signs indicating restricted parking.
