University of Iowa officials issued a Hawkalert Friday night for a suspicious package on the Pentacrest.
According to a Hawkalert sent at 8:33pm, UI Police responded to a report of a suspicious package on the north side of Schaeffer Hall. The public was told to avoid the area during the investigation.
A 9pm update indicated police specialists were on the scene, and a final update at 9:44pm indicated the situation had been resolved and normal activity could resume.
The Iowa City Police Daily Activity Log shows a caller described the item as a microwave with a sign that read: “It will explode.”
No other information about the incident has been made available.
