Iowa City Police say they arrested a man who caused thousands of dollars in damage to the front door of a downtown restaurant early Sunday morning, then arrested a woman who tried to fight arriving officers.

Arrest records indicate officers were called to Mickey’s on South Dubuque Street just before 2am Sunday for a man trying to kick down the front door. The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Gach Tot of Highway 1 West, was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Criminal Mischief, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Interference With Official Acts and Public Intoxication. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of over six years in prison.

Damage to the front door of Mickey’s is estimated at $2,200.

As Tot was being placed under arrest, 24-year-old Emma McNutt of Oberlin Street reportedly placed herself between the subject of a nearby Disorderly Conduct arrest and the arresting officers and tried to push them away. McNutt reportedly showed signs of intoxication, admitted to being “drunk”, and provided a breath alcohol level of .234%.

McNutt was arrested and charged with Assault on Peace Officers and Others, Interference With Official Acts and Public Intoxication. If convicted on all charges, she faces a maximum of 14 months in jail.
