Allegedly aiming a gun at and threatening a resident of a southeast side apartment complex has led to an Iowa City man’s arrest.

Iowa City Police were called to the Town & Campus Apartments on Arthur Street just after 10:30 Friday night after a woman reported a man had pointed a gun at her inside an apartment. Both the caller and another witness report 35-year-old Dwayne White of Hawk Ridge Drive pointed a gun at the woman and threatened to kill her. The investigation determined that White believed the woman had been cheating. He allegedly stated, “Don’t play with me, I’ma shoot you”, and that if he didn’t “get” her Friday night, he would do so another day. The woman ran out of the apartment as police arrived.

A small, black baggie containing a leafy substance believed to be marijuana was found on White’s person upon his arrest.

White is charged with Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, Going Armed with Intent, 1st Degree Harassment, and Person Ineligible to Carry a Firearm. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 13 years in prison.
