A management company that owns several mobile home parks in the area has been fined for wastewater violations.

The Gazette reports that Havenpark Management has agreed to pay the $8000 fine after Sunrise Village on South Scott Boulevard was found to have committed multiple violations since 2020. They reportedly discharged wastewater into a tributary of Snyder Creek, which feeds into the Iowa River.

The consent order obtained by the Gazette says that Havenpark will build a new wastewater treatment facility for Sunrise, which will also serve the nearby Modern Manor mobile home park. The option of connecting to Iowa City’s sewer system was taken off the table after the city said they would not be annexing the neighborhoods.

Havenpark owns Western Hills Mobile Estates in Coralville, Golfview Mobile Home Court in North Liberty, the two aforementioned Iowa City parks, and West Branch Village in West Branch. The group was criticized in 2019 for acquiring mobile home parks across the country and increasing the rents between 24 and 69 percent.
