IMCC inmate serving life sentence for murder dies

An inmate at the Iowa Medical and Classification Center serving a life sentence for murder has died.

According to a news release from the Iowa Department of Corrections, 84-year-old Thomas Jordan Knapp was pronounced dead due to natural causes at 10:36 a.m. on Thursday. Knapp had been in hospice at the Oakdale facility, where he had been housed due to chronic illness.

Knapp had been serving a life sentence for 1st Degree Murder and other charges from Plymouth County. His sentence began on October 14, 2022.
