A transient has been arrested after he allegedly assaulted another man outside the Iowa City wet shelter, sending the victim to the hospital.

26-year-old Abraham Lemus was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 6:30 Friday night. Iowa City Police say surveillance video shows Lemus push another subject to the ground outside the Southgate Avenue facility just before 5:30pm on February 20th. The man hit his head on a rock, causing a three-inch laceration that required transportation to a local hospital via ambulance.

Lemus is charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury. If convicted, he faces a maximum of one year in jail.
