Iowa County law enforcement arrests suspect in multiple Marengo, Williamsburg burglary cases

Iowa County authorities have arrested a suspect in a series of burglaries.

According to a news release from the Marengo Police Department, agents from that department joined agents from the Williamsburg Police Department and the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office in executing a search warrant at the residence of 26-year-old Austin Lawson in the Sudbury RV Park and Motel on Highway 6 Trail in Marengo. Lawson and 21-year-old Mason Allie, also a resident of the Sudbury Motel, were both taken into custody.

Lawson is charged with 1st Degree Burglary, Attempted 3rd Degree Burglary, 2nd Degree Criminal Mischief, Possession of Methamphetamine – 2nd Offense, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and two counts each of 3rd Degree Burglary and 2nd Degree Theft. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of over 53 years in prison.

Allie is charged with Possession of Burglar’s Tools, Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Those charges have a maximum sentence of over three years behind bars upon conviction.

The Marengo Police Department says additional charges are pending.
