A Riverside man has entered a “not guilty” plea to charges relating to a Cedar Rapids bomb threat allegedly made last month.
Cedar Rapids Police say on February 19th 56-year-old Roy Boughner made a verbal threat in the automotive section of Walmart on 29th Avenue Southwest. The extra on-duty officer at the store notified the Cedar Rapids Metro Hazardous Devices Unit of the threat, and Walmart and businesses in the immediate vicinity were evacuated. No evidence of a bomb was located.
On Monday, Boughner entered a “not guilty” plea to charges of 1st Degree Harassment and Disorderly Conduct – Circulating False Reports of a Catastrophe. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of 25 months in jail.
Judge Casey Jones set a trial date of July 17th. A case management conference is set for May 17th.
