Iowa City man faces decades in prison after search warrant turns up drugs and firearms

An Iowa City man was arrested Tuesday after a search warrant of his residence reportedly turned up drugs and weapons.

Officers with the ICPD executed the warrant at 12:15 pm at the Mormon Trek Boulevard residence of 33-year-old Bryson Christian.  He was reportedly located in a vehicle with 8 individual bags of marijuana. Inside the residence, officers allegedly recovered over 42 grams of marijuana, 3 firearms, various types of pills, drug paraphernalia and a digital scale.

The firearms were identified as a Glock 19, Springfield XD, and a Smith and Wesson M&P.  Over 10 of the pills were identified as MDMA, while there reportedly over 50 pills of fentanyl.

Christian has a prior felony conviction for manufacturing and/or distributing controlled substances, and as such is ineligible to possess or handle firearms.

He was arrested and sits in the Johnson County Jail on various charges. They include three counts of Dominion or Control of a Firearm by a Felon, 3 counts of Failure to Affix Tax Stamp,  one Class D Controlled Substance Violation, two Class C Controlled Substance Violations, Keeping Premises or Vehicle for Controlled Substances, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. If convicted on all charges, Christian could be sentenced to over 57 years in prison.
