The Wedge Pizza is staying put after all.
A local business owner had told KCJJ last weekend that the restaurant was being kicked out of its current location on Highway 1 West after the Casey’s corporation purchased all five Iowa City area Delimart locations. The source said they had been personally contacted by a representative for The Wedge’s landlord about possibly using their kitchen while the Wedge was looking for a new location.
Wedge co-owner Michael Harris contacted KCJJ on Wednesday to say the restaurant would be staying put. Harris says Casey’s would be pulling out the gas tanks and closing the gas station down entirely, allowing The Wedge to stay in its current location.
A source close to the sale told KCJJ that at one point the plan was to convert the Highway 1 West Delimart location into a “Goodstop By Casey’s” and close the Casey’s on Willow Creek Drive. It is unknown how or why those plans may have changed.
