Iowa City woman arrested for drunk, reckless driving in Washington County after wanted arsonist found in her car

An Iowa City woman has been arrested on drunk and reckless driving charges after she was allegedly found in Washington County with a wanted arsonist in her car.

Washington County dispatch records indicate a vehicle stop was conducted at East 2nd Street and 12th Avenue in Washington just before 11:30 Wednesday night. A deputy reported a male subject fled from the scene and a taser was deployed. That subject was treated by EMTs.

The driver, 21-year-old Brooke Lynne Habner-Keever of Cross Park Avenue, was charged with Operating While Intoxicated, Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device, No Valid License, Failure to Provide Financial Liability, Reckless Driving and Speeding at 62 miles per hour in a 25 mile per hour zone.

A passenger in the car, 24-year-old Colton Lane Pategas of Davenport, was charged with Interference With Official Acts. He reportedly had warrants from Oakdale and Davenport for Absence From Custody – Escape stemming from a previous 2nd Degree Arson conviction. Pategas was scheduled to be extradited as soon as the Washington County charge was processed.
