Hawkeye football alum Bob Stoops has won another championship.

Stoops led the Arlington Renegades to an improbable 35-26 win over D.C. in the XFL championship game Saturday night in San Antonio.  The Renegades entered the playoffs with a losing 4-6 record. They defeated 7-3 Houston before knocking off the 9-1 Defenders for the title.

Stoops won the college football national championship with Oklahoma in 2000. He also led the Sooners to ten Big 12 championships. Stoops played at Iowa, where he later became an assistant coach for Hayden Fry.
