An area transient was arrested Wednesday morning after allegedly assaulting a man outside Shelter House.

The incident occurred just after 9am, when 27-year-old Chavon Banks was reportedly involved in an argument with a subject who was sitting inside a man’s vehicle.  Banks and two other unnamed subjects began opening the door of the vehicle in an attempt to engage the passenger in a confrontation.

The victim approached Banks and directed him to step away from his vehicle and stop opening the door.  Banks allegedly responded by shoving the man, who uses a walker, to the ground. Once on the ground, Banks reportedly began punching the man repeatedly.

The man suffered multiple abrasions and Banks allegedly admitted to the assault. He was charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to one year if convicted.
