A Riverside woman who was allegedly nearly 4 times over the legal limit to drive went airborne during a single-vehicle accident that led to an OWI charge.

According to the arrest report, 59-year-old Stephanie Baye was on the 4700 block of Sand Road in the 4pm hour May 13th when she was involved in the incident. Authorities say she was traveling at a high rate of speed and hit the guardrail on the shoulder, went into oncoming traffic, over-corrected and entered the ditch. Baye struck multiple mailboxes and reportedly went airborne when she ramped a residence’s driveway.

The vehicle rolled, and Baye was injured. The investigating deputy allegedly found multiple open containers in the vehicle, and she reportedly admitted to drinking prior to driving.  Baye consented to a blood sample shortly after 6pm, and her blood-alcohol level was measured at .316 percent.

A warrant was issued for Baye’s arrest on Wednesday; she was booked at the Johnson County Jail on Thursday. After being charged with OWI first offense, she made her first court appearance and was released on her own recognizance pending future proceedings. If convicted on the charge, Baye could be sentenced to up to one year in jail.
