An Iowa City architect and community advocate has announced he’s running for the City Council.

Josh Moe seeks one of two at-large council seats currently held by Andrew Dunn, who is vacating his seat to seek the District C seat, and the other held by Laura Bergus, who is seeking re-election.

Moe, who works with OPN Architects, says in a media release that his work in the profession helps him see how community facilities, businesses, non-profits, and infrastructure are equally important in planning for Iowa City’s future.

If elected, Moe is prepared to address several infrastructure investments at the Senior Center, City Hall, City Park Pool, and the Robert A Lee Rec Center.

Moe is a member of the LGBTQI+ community, and says he’s committed to making Iowa City citizens and visitors feel safe and welcome.

Moe served three terms as the chair of the Iowa City Area Business Partnership’s Community Leadership program, and served on nonprofit boards including Old Brick, Friends of Historic Preservation, and Preservation Iowa. He has also worked with Habitat for Humanity and on the United Way’s Community Impact Council.

Moe’s Facebook campaign page is Josh Moe for City Council and his website is josh-moe.com.
