Six County Jail inmates charged after assault in cell

Six inmates at the Johnson County Jail face felony charges after allegedly being involved in a group assault at the facility Thursday afternoon.

Jailers say the incident took place at 2:52 pm, when a group of inmates entered a single cell where they assaulted the victim.  During the assault, the victim was physically prevented from escaping.

Charged in the incident are 24-year-old Montrice Clark of Iowa City; 34-year-old Cardale Hunter of Dolton Illinois; 36—year-old Brandon Mitchell of Iowa City; 30-year-old Jesse Nicastri of Coralville; 19-year-old Bryant Wallace of Marion; and 19-year-old Mekhi Wright of Cedar Rapids. Each of them face Participating in a Riot charges and could be sentenced to up to five years in prison if convicted.
