An Iowa City man is accused of assaulting a juvenile at the Coralville Rec Center.
33-year-old Alex Gonzales of South Gilbert Street was booked into the Johnson County Jail at 2:45 Friday afternoon. Coralville Police say just before 8:30pm on September 1st of last year, Gonzales was leaving the exercise room at the 8th Street facility when he approached a juvenile in the gym. Gonzales reportedly pushed the victim, then punched the juvenile three times in the face, causing a bloody nose. Police say the attack was unprovoked.
Gonzales is charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury. If convicted, he faces a maximum of one year in jail.
