Liquor store clerk arrested after damaging unruly customer’s vehicle

A Coralville liquor store clerk has been charged with criminal mischief after allegedly damaging the vehicle of an unruly customer.

The incident occurred at around 6pm Wednesday at Keystone Liquor and Wine on the Coralville Strip.  56-year-old Gurmail Saini of Brown Deer Road, was working at the store when a customer came in and created a ruckus.  The customer then left the store, got into a vehicle and began to drive away. That’s when Saini allegedly came outside and struck the vehicle with a broom, damaging the windshield and passenger side mirror.

Estimated cost to repair the damage is somewhere between $750 and $1500.

Saini was charged with 3rd degree Criminal Mischief, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to two years if convicted.
