A South Dakota woman was charged with OWI after squealing the tires on her Jeep as she left a bar.

The incident occurred around 1:30 am Friday outside the J&A Tap in North Liberty.  A deputy reportedly heard tires squealing, and saw a Jeep Wrangler driven by 28-year-old Makinsy Brantsen of Sioux Falls heading for the exit.  Brantsen stopped in the parking lot once they saw the squad car.

Upon contact with the vehicle’s occupants, an overwhelming odor of alcohol was reportedly observed.  Brantsen admitted to drinking, and when asked about the squealing tires, she allegedly claimed she was “doing Jeep things.”

After performing poorly on field testing, Brantsen provided a PBT showing her blood-alcohol level at .168  percent.  A subsequent Datamaster reading showed it at .174 percent.

Brantsen was charged with first offense OWI, a serious misdemeanor.
