Driving the wrong way on a one-way street early Thursday has led to the OWI arrest of an Iowa City man.
Police say 56-year-old Archie Burns of Muscatine Avenue was observed near the intersection of Dodge and Davenport streets driving the wrong way just before 1am. Burns reportedly had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, impaired balance, and the odor of ingested alcohol. He also allegedly admitted to drinking before getting behind the wheel.
After showing measurable impairment on field testing and refusing all chemical testing, Burns reportedly changed his mind and agreed to take a Datamaster test. His blood-alcohol level was measured at .177 percent.
Burns was charged with OWI first offense, a serious misdemeanor.
