For the first time in history, members of the Hawkeye Marching Band have inked an NIL deal.
The Daily Iowan reports that 18 student musicians from the mellophone section have partnered with The Brick Kitchen, a family-owned kitchenware store in Independence, Iowa.
The students made their first appearance on a Facebook post from the business, all wearing black T-shirts saying “Mellies” with a yellow heart and The Brick Kitchen’s logo.
The students will receive financial compensation as well as products from The Brick Kitchen for the use of their names, images and likenesses. The store will feature the band members in advertising and social media.
