The pedestrians involved in an alleged drunk-driving crash in Cedar Rapids Sunday have been identified.

Bonnie and Shawn Stover were hit by a sport utility vehicle Sunday afternoon in front of their home on Memorial Drive SE. Bonnie was killed in the crash and Shawn was injured. Police say the driver of the SUV, 45-year-old Kyle Kubite of Pine Avenue SE, was intoxicated.

The crash was caught on video surveillance and allowed police to identify the vehicle’s owner. It was found parked about a mile away at Kubite’s home.

Kubite has been charged with vehicular homicide while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, and leaving the scene of a fatal accident. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to up to 31 years in prison.

Bonnie Stover worked at Linn Area Credit Union and volunteered at various local organizations. Shawn Stover remains in the hospital with an ankle injury that will require surgery. The couple have three daughters.
