An Iowa City man accused of threatening to cannibalize his ex-girlfriend has been given a suspended sentence.

34-year-old Stephen Stampka of Western Road allegedly used text messages to detail several ways in which his ex-girlfriend would die and ways he wanted to do it. Police say they included slicing her up into “fat fat fat steaks and trying cannibalism one time”, and stoning her after nailing her to a cross.

The texts reportedly continued with other detailed desires, and reportedly ended with, “If you see me around, you two better f—ing run, that’s all I have to say.”

Stampka was charged with 1st Degree Harassment. Court records show he entered a guilty plea and on Friday Judge Brandon Schrock gave him a two-year suspended sentence and two years of probation.
