Join the Johnson County Chapter of the United Nations Association for “Night of 1,000 Dinners,” to honor local organizations advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The event will take place at the Unitarian Universalist Society, 2355 Oakdale Road, Coralville, at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 7th.

Night of 1,000 Dinners has been a Johnson County community event for more than 20 years. Originally the event was part of a national campaign for landmine clearance featuring fund-raising dinners across the nation – hence the name “Night of 1,000 Dinners.” When the national campaign ended, members of the United Nations Association reframed the event as a celebration of International Women’s Day.  Proceeds from the event will benefit the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and four local groups working to advance Good Health and Well-Being.

This year’s honorees include 4Cs of Johnson County, The Youth Crisis Stabilization program, Emma Goldman Clinic, and The Healthy Kids School-Based Clinics.

Tickets are $25 for community members and $10 for students and those with limited income through March 1. After March 1, tickets are $35 for community members and $15 for students/limited income.

Tickets can be purchased by searching Night of 1,000 Dinners on Eventbrite.com or sending a check  payable to JCUNA to 308 E. Burlington St, #245 Iowa City, Iowa 52240.
