A man on probation for forgery faces a new charge after police say he brought a BB gun to a meeting at his probation office.

According to arrest records, 48-year-old Shawn Kelly arrived for a scheduled visit at the probation office on Monday with a Glock-style BB pistol tucked into his waistband. A search of his person reportedly turned up two credit cards with another individual’s name on them. Kelly allegedly admitted to entering a neighbor’s house without permission and taking them.

Another person’s EBT card was also reportedly found on Kelly’s person. Police say he claimed he found it on the sidewalk.

The search of Kelly’s person also reportedly turned up a wanted poster with his photo on it asking for the public’s help in identifying him in a theft investigation. Police say Kelly wore the same shirt to the parole meeting that he was wearing in the wanted poster.

Kelly was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 4:45 Monday afternoon and charged with a probation violation.
