Iowa City man accused of violating no contact order after recent assault

An Iowa City man was arrested over the weekend after violating a no contact order related to a recent assault.

The woman victim was unable to call police until Saturday afternoon. She said that she woke up earlier to find 53-year-old Jeremy Mulvaney back at their residence and standing over her. She believed that he still had keys to the residence and gained entry by using them.

The woman stated that she was too scared to say anything to Mulvaney or call police, so he was in the residence with her most of the day.  He then started arguing with the woman, who was reportedly concerned that the situation would escalate. She then told Mulvaney to leave and called police.  He left the scene but was taken into custody later that day.

Mulvaney was charged with violation of the no contact order issued the previous Saturday. Police say in that incident, Mulvaney slammed her head into the concrete, causing swelling to her lip and face and a cut on her face. He was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault with Intent to Inflict Injury, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in prison if convicted.
