An Iowa City man recently taken into custody for failing to appear at an initial hearing on theft charges and found with drugs during the arrest now faces a robbery charge.

Police made contact with 20-year-old Precieux Nzoni of Broadway Street at a residence in the Western Hills Manufactured Housing Community Saturday morning.  He was wanted for failing to appear December 15th at his initial hearing on a theft charge. He allegedly had street drugs, a large amount of cash, and three dollar bills tightly rolled with burnt residue on each end on his person at the time of arrest.

Nzoni was released on his own recognizance early Monday and was reportedly in trouble again shortly thereafter.

According to police, a woman was shoved into the women’s restroom at the Holiday Road Kum & Go in Coralville at around 9am and robbed of $200. She allegedly identified Nzoni as one of the offenders.

Nzoni was taken into custody Wednesday and charged with 2nd degree robbery, a Class C Felony. This time, he was ordered held on a $25,000 bond. A no-contact order was also issued between Nzoni and the victim.
