An Iowa man convicted of a felony was arrested after a warrant was issued because he attempted to purchase a firearm in Coralville last year.

According to the criminal complaint, 44-year-old Ryan White of Harper, Iowa was at Scheels in the Coral Ridge Mall the morning of November 24th and attempted to purchase a Kimber 9mm pistol.  Video footage from the incident allegedly showed White holding seven other firearms.  He reportedly filled out  a firearm transaction form and checked the box indicating he was not a felon.

A check of his criminal record showed a conviction of Carrying Weapons in 2011 and a Felony conviction for attempted burglary in 2021.  The felony prevents White by law from possessing or being in control of a weapon.

A warrant was issued on December 14th and White was booked at the Johnson County Jail Monday. He could be sentenced to up to ten years in prison if convicted on charges of False Information in Acquiring a Weapon and Dominion or Control of a Firearm as a Felon.
