A Coralville man was charged with domestic abuse after an incident with his long-time partner Sunday afternoon.

According to the woman, the couple had cohabited for over a dozen years and recently separated because of a previous domestic incident.  36-year old Jordon Mixon still had clothing and other items in a back bedroom and reportedly would come and go every few days.

Mixon allegedly came to their residence in the early morning hours Sunday, highly intoxicated.  His former partner instructed him to pack his things and leave, but Mixon reportedly ignored her and made himself a cup of coffee.  In retaliation, the woman picked up the coffee maker and broke it against the counter top. Mixon then allegedly hit her in the face with an open hand.

Mixon then reportedly started calling for help so that a neighbor would call for police.

The man had the odor of ingested alcohol and had a scratch under his eye that he claimed occurred from playing with the cat.

Mixon was charged with domestic abuse assault second offense due to a previous conviction in Knox County Illinois from 2012. A no-contact order was requested between the couple.
