An Iowa City man faces jail time after allegedly breaking into a vehicle early Friday morning.

According to the police report, 23-year-old Dale Eggerson of the Quarters apartment complex was observed by the victim breaking into his vehicle near the intersection of Euclid and Crescent streets just before 1am. After reportedly rummaging around inside, Eggerson left.

The victim then discovered the glove box of the vehicle was damaged.

Once confronted by police, Eggerson allegedly had bloodshot watery eyes, had the odor of ingested alcohol, slurred speech, and was stumbling while trying to stand still.  He refused a post-arrest PBT.

Eggerson was charged with 3rd degree Burglary, 5th degree Criminal Mischief, and Public Intoxication. If convicted on all counts, he could be sentenced to up to 14 months in jail.
