An Iowa City man faces OWI and a weapons charge after allegedly driving off the road late Sunday night.

According to police, 40-year-old Scott Livingston of East Court Street was observed driving a 2020 Chevrolet Colorado on 250th Street near Cemetery Road off the road and into a ditch before returning to the roadway.

A traffic stop was initiated near 250th Street’s intersection with Echo Avenue.  Upon contact, Livingston allegedly had the strong odor of ingested alcohol, bloodshot watery eyes, and slurred speech.  He reportedly was unable to provide identification, and refused to identify himself.

Livingston refused all field sobriety tests, and allegedly had an open container of alcohol on the passenger seat floorboard.  Additionally, a loaded Smith and Wesson Shield pistol was reportedly found lying on a blanket on the front passenger seat.

Livingston refused PBT and Datamaster testing.

He was taken into custody and charged with first offense OWI and Person Ineligible to Carry Dangerous Weapons. He faces up to two years in jail if convicted on both counts.
