An Iowa City man faces charges that he showed pornographic images to a minor.
Iowa City Police say last October 33-year-old Rodrico Jones showed a minor two pornographic photos at his Esther Court residence. The images reportedly showed men and women engaged in sex acts. The girl told police she felt uncomfortable, and that Jones had tried asking her about her sexual activity.
An investigation determined that one month earlier Jones had sent a minor numerous pornographic images and videos via cellphone. He also reportedly asked the alleged victim about their sexual preferences, and encouraged them to get paid for sex. Police say this went on for several months until Jones told the minor to delete the entire text thread. Investigators report finding at least 11 pornographic images Jones had sent, although the actual number dispersed to the reported victim is believed to be higher.
Jones is charged with Dissemination of Obscene Material to a Minor and Telephone Dissemination of Obscene Material to a Minor. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of three years in jail.
