An Iowa City man who reportedly has an ongoing dispute with a neighbor over water runoff allegedly took the matter in his own hands and did some creative irrigation work.

Police say 89-year-old Ronald King attempted to route water runoff away from his property last Friday morning by digging a culvert out of his neighbor’s driveway and dig a hole through the driveway. He reportedly did this against his neighbor’s wishes, and left a big enough rut in the driveway that would conceivably cause a car to bottom out if it drove over it.

King allegedly admitted that the property that he dug on wasn’t his, but didn’t care.

He was charged with 4th degree Criminal Mischief and could be sentenced to up to a year in jail if convicted. He was released on his own recognizance, pending future court dates.
