Iowa City man charged after stabbing incident

Iowa City police have arrested a man reportedly involved in a stabbing Wednesday night.

Police responded to the area of Washington and Clinton streets at 9:10pm for a report of a fight during which an individual was stabbed.

Responding officers located one victim with multiple stab wounds; they were taken to the hospital to receive medical treatment for injuries sustained in the fight. The alleged suspect, identified as 55-year-old Lonzo Powers, had no injuries and was not struck by the victim prior to the  reported stabbing.

Powers has been charged with Willful Injury causing Serious Injury, a Class C Felony punishable by a maximum prison term of ten years if convicted.
