Allegedly driving drunk and hitting another vehicle while her children and drugs were in  her car has led to numerous charges against an Iowa City bar owner.

Iowa City Police say 31-year-old Adesola Miller of Bloomington Street struck another car parked near the intersection of Johnson and Jefferson Streets just after 7:15 Monday night. Miller allegedly showed signs of intoxication and registered a breath alcohol level of .181%.  She reportedly identified a three-year-old and a five-year-old inside her 2006 Saturn Vue as hers, although police say she refused to provide their names. Marijuana was allegedly found inside the vehicle. Miller also reportedly refused to sign the citation and had no proof of insurance.  She was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated – 3rd or Subsequent Offense, Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability, Possession of a Controlled Substance – 3rd or Subsequent Offense and two counts of Child Endangerment. If convicted on all counts she faces a maximum of 14 years in prison.

Miller was also wanted for an incident late on the night of New Year’s Eve when she allegedly called 9-1-1 twice to complain about noise from a private party at 1840 South Gilbert Street. Iowa City Police say the calls came from Miller’s phone, and were placed while she was at The Haven at 220 South Van Buren Street…which is over 1.2 miles from the reported party. Officers who went to the scene found no disturbance.

Miller…who police say owns The Haven…has been charged with noise complaints at her establishment in the past.
