Obermueller earns All-Region honors

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Junior LHP Cade Obermueller earned American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-Midwest Region honors, it was announced Tuesday by the organization.

Obermueller earned first team recognition, moving him into consideration for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors that will be announced Friday.

It is the fifth straight year the Hawkeyes have had at least one first-team all-region honoree and the ninth time under head coach Rick Heller that Iowa has had a player recognized.

Obermueller earned first-team All-Region honors after going 5-3 with a 3.02 ERA in 15 starts. He posted five quality starts and fanned 117 batters over 83.1 innings. His 117 punchouts ranks second all-time in program history for strikeouts in a season The Iowa City, Iowa, native leads the Big Ten and ranks 18th in the nation in strikeouts per nine innings (12.83).

The left-hander posted three double-digit strikeout performances, including a seven-inning complete game against Northwestern on April 4. In the 12-1 win over the Wildcats, Obermueller struck out a career-high 12 batters while allowing one hit – a single – one walk and one unearned run.

The Hawkeyes closed the 2025 season with a 33-22-1 overall record. Iowa finished third in the Big Ten regular season standings and made its 10th straight Big Ten Tournament appearance.
