An Iowa City man was arrested Friday morning after allegedly assaulting his live-in partner.
According to the arrest report, 29-year-old Jamal McKaufman of Camden Road was in an argument with the woman at their shared apartment. He allegedly broke a TV during the altercation. The woman took out her phone to record the incident, and McKaufman reportedly tried to grab it from her, cutting her finger in the process.
The victim is pregnant with McKaurfman’s child. Her 10-year-old son from another relationship witnessed the incident.
McKaufman was charged with Domestic Assault causing Injury and Child Endangerment. If convicted on both counts, he faces up to three years in prison.
