The University of Iowa women’s basketball team has reportedly lost two more players to the transfer portal.

Sources report sophomore Teagan Mallegni will shop her talents elsewhere after announcing her intentions Monday. She appeared in 15 games this past season after playing in 30 as a freshman. She shot 24 percent from the field and 15 percent from three-point range in her sophomore year with Iowa.

Health problems plagued her second year, suffering an ankle injury during an exhibition win over Ashland on October 30th, then had her tonsils removed the week of November 24th. She never regained traction in the starting rotation, with Journey Houston taking her place.

Later Monday, Emely Rodriquez was also reportedly planning on entering the portal after playing just one season with Iowa.

Rodriquez hadn’t seen court time since she played four minutes in a win over Miami November 22nd. She then suffered a back injury, which coach Jan Jensen said occurred either in Iowa’s final practice in Florida or the first practice back in Iowa City afterwards. She never suited up again, although she was on the bench for Iowa’s final 21 games.

Rodriquez and Mallegni join Addie Deal, Kallie Levin, and Kennise Johnson, who previously announced they were headed to the transfer portal. The team also loses Kylie Feuerbach, Hannah Stuelke, Taylor McCabe and Jada Gyamfi to graduation.
