A Burlington man who was reportedly involved in a large fight in downtown Iowa City earlier this year has been arrested.
Police say 18-year-old Rashon Thomas of South 8th Street was part a large fight outside of Nutrisport Smoothie March 8th at around 3am. Video footage of the incident allegedly shows Thomas attempting to punch two people. During the fight, another suspect fired a gun, causing property damage to the business.
Thomas is then reportedly seen running away from the scene with the other suspect.
A warrant was issued for Thomas’ arrest March 17th. He remained at large until he was arrested Tuesday. Thomas was charged with Participation in a Riot, a Class D Felony punishable by a prison sentence of up to five years.
He has been released to the custody of the Department of Correctional Services pending arraignment.
