US Representative Mariannette Mller-Meeks met with cancer advocates at the Iowa City Public Library on Monday.
The Press-Citizen reports Miller-Meeks touted her track record and stressed continued funding for cancer research, expanded rural access to cancer care, and support of legislation to solidify cancer prevention.
Her appearance was one of a series of “coffee chats” advocates have been hosting ahead of the November elections. Iowans face the second-highest cancer rate in the country.
Miller-Meeks is running for a 3rd term in the US House. She’s opposed by Democrat Christina Bohannan, who met with the cancer advocates on August 14th and pledged commitment to their priorities.
