IC man arrested for assault at storage facility

A couple arguing at an Iowa City storage facility led to the arrest of a man on domestic abuse charges.
Reports indicate an officer observed the two arguing at the Scott 6 storage facility on Commerce Drive at approximately 5:45pm Friday. The man, identified as 25-year-old Elijah Rocquemore of Southgate Avenue had scratch marks on his neck.
When the officer asked how the scratches got there, the woman advised that Rocquemore refused to let her leave the facility and started hitting her in the head. When she pushed him away she scratched Rocquemore.
A check of court records discovered a no-contact order between the two. The woman complained of head pain but refused medical treatment.
Rocquemore was taken into custody and charged with domestic abuse assault 2nd offense, a serious misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail.
